Shadow - a human approach to software testing - only better.

Automation based testing is common in the development of software but rare in the testing of localised software. After using some of the best software testing tools on the market, we saw the reasons why... Many were aimed at testing one copy of the software at a time, on one machine. Also they were script heavy, requiring a lot of up front scripting and script management. There was no system which focused on the particular needs of software localisation testing, for example the unique requirements of Sim shipping in multi-languages.

So Brandt, with the support of Enterprise Ireland and DKIT developed a propriety testing system, designed specifically for the localisation industry.
The goals of this project were:

  • Simultaneous control.
  • Data capture.
  • Data distribution.
  • Integration with bug tracking system.

The results have been impressive, from our beta programme alone, Shadow has already become the testing tool of choice for several major blue chip clients, displacing well established software products such as WinRunner and Silktest.
